Autumn Brings The Beauty And The Beast

Autumn is a beautiful time of year. The leaves change their colors and in places it looks like a beautiful painting created by a heavenly being. The wheat stalks and pumpkins all add to the picture. It’s a wonderful time of year. So many people love to take walks in Autumn and play in the leaves and just kick them all about. It almost has a youthful effect on people. There’s hiking and apple picking,  but vacations are over and school begins. It’s time to get back to work as we begin to look forward to Spring. But the cooler days give us our energy and cause us to sleep better. We can’t forget that! But how can such a beautiful time of year also be a beast of a time? When you unwrap the beauty you find darkness. Yes, this time of year, the days become shorter and shorter and darkness comes earlier and earlier. As Summer fades away the sun now keeps its distance for all those who remember its warmth. So what are we left with? Nothing but cooler days and cooler nights. The windows are closed and now we begin our days closed in. This is a sad time for many people, yes, for those who have Seasonal Affective Disorder which includes depression, loneliness, feeling hopeless, even struggling to stay focused. This can also cause fatigue. It can affect our sleeping habits and even our appetites. And if that is not bad enough, we now begin to welcome  the flu and cold season. If you feel hopeless then think on this, in about 5 months the days will begin to get longer. You can keep the beauty in Fall, if you do something to keep the beast away. Find a hobby that you can do indoors. Keep the lights on in your house. Exercise and eat healthy meals. Keep a routine and don’t stray from it. Stay socially connected and this is not by being on your phones, but getting together with friends. When you get low, then charge up your batteries by calling a friend or taking a walk in the mall or even volunteering your time. There are many agencies looking for volunteers, like becoming a big brother or sister to a child or maybe to someone who just needs a friend or even a father figure. There is so much one can do to keep the beast of Fall and Winter away from your door. Not only open your door, but open your hearts and you will see that the blues will pass you by because you have too much to do to entertain them. You will soon see that you too, will see the beauty of Fall, and also the beauty inside yourself. You see, the weather or the season can not change what is deep down inside of you. Only you can reach down inside yourself and either change or bring out what lies down deep within you. You may be surprised to find the real you and all the potential you have when you let yourself be free of the things that hold you back. Goodbye blues. Goodbye fears. Goodbye anxiety. Now you have hope because you see for yourself that these things cannot keep you bound. This says a lot about Autumn and how to keep its beauty.

Autumn

Autumn is a time of beauty.
It is a time when our Lord touches the earth
and changes it into a wonderland.

The leaves on the trees change
into elegant colors
as they reach the height of their beauty.

Weeds become beautiful
as the Lord’s hand gently touches them.

Many of us have lived lives like weeds—
growing wild, not really caring about others.
But once we found our Lord,
we have become beautiful
like the weeds in autumn.
