Who Really Was The Winner?

Since the death of Charlie Kirk people have weighed in on both sides of the spectrum.  Let’s take a closer look into this situation and see if we can come to a conclusion. Charlie was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  Charlie dropped out of college after one semester to become a full time political activist. He was the co-founder of the organization called Turning Point USA, which began in 2012 and since then developed several affiliate groups, including Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith. He spoke at  Colleges and High Schools to promote conservative beliefs. He wrote many books and even hosted his own radio talk show in which he spoke about his  conservative values.  Charlie would debate students on campus on what he called “Prove Me Wrong.” Now what he believed or practiced or even spoke about is not the point of this blog. What is the point of this blog is that each person who is a citizen of this country has the Constitutional right to speak what he believes, and to basically live the life they choose as long as it is within the Constitution and the law. Now, it appears that this is how Charlie Kirk lived his life. Because of him many people were set free inside of themselves to also speak what they believed, not only about their politics but also about their faith. This is a good thing. This is the way it ought to be. So why were so many people so elated that he was shot dead?  Both sides of the political realm have the right to speak what they believe and the right to believe it. Both sides have the right to live their lives as long as they live it according to the Constitution and the law.  The question to ask oneself is why do we feel that we have to silence political expression, when we all have the freedom to speak and live according to what we believe as long as it is according to the law? Why the intolerance? Why the violence? Why do we think that this is the answer to all things? The debate will go on. The speakers will continue to speak. Life has not ended, but only for one. So this useless act of violence only elevated the killer’s so-called enemy. Today, Charlie is a hero, a martyr, a man that will live on through all those who loved him and believed in him. Nothing good comes from violence. People are not silenced because they die, because they will always live on through the history they made. Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and so many others, all live on because of the great things they did while they were alive. When will we learn this, that you can never put down a good man when he has more friends than enemies. Charlie Kirk made history by the lives he touched. Those people today will always remember Charlie, but the man who shot him, that man’s name will not even be spoken let alone remembered. Who is the loser here? Certainly not those who loved Charlie Kirk. No the loser is the one who shot his enemy, Charlie Kirk, only to elevate him and you can say even immortalized him. With political violence, and for that matter, any kind of violence, the perpetrator never wins. He only loses.
