Memories can be a good thing, remembering family and friends and good times. But memories can also be a sad moment or a painful experience and these things we would like to forget. Life is full of good and bad moments, but what about the future? There will always be things in our lives that we can not control. Things that happen without any notice, good and bad. But what about our future? Yes, there are things that we can plan for, like our vocation in life. Maybe we want to get married and have children. Maybe we want to be a shop owner one day or even a CEO of a company. It’s important to have such desires and then go after your dreams. But you first have to have a plan on how you are going to achieve your dreams. You may want to speak to your parents or even someone who is in the field that you want to go into. But no matter what, it all starts with school. A dream does not just happen like in a fairy tale. No, you have to work hard to achieve your goals, like in sports, you don’t just become a person who runs a marathon. It takes hard work and determination. You have to have a commitment to your goals and desires. This is what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we, an imperishable ( in heaven). Therefore I run in such a way as not to run aimlessly; I box in such a way, as to avoid hitting air; but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.” Too many people today do not have the determination it takes to fulfill their dreams. We let other people influence us. If we do not run with the crowd then we are dropped like a hot potato. But we must be ourselves or else, we will begin to hate ourselves and even others. Anger and hatred will only lead us down a road where we find only a dead end. We are all able to achieve our goals because the human spirit is strong. So do not let anyone tell you differently or even laugh or mock you, because it is your life to live, not theirs. Be all that you can be and stay in school, and have tunnel vision when it comes to your goals in life. Be like that race horse who runs with great speed because he has been trained to run toward the finish line. A song called “Give My All” by the Planetshakers says this, “I bring my best praise and I’m ready to give it all to You. I bring my whole heart and I’m ready to pour it out on You. I bring my energy and passion. You’re worthy of nothing less. Your love is stirring me to action So I’m gonna give my best.” Too many people call it quits when things get hard. That’s no way to live life. The way to live life is by giving it your all, with all your heart and energy and passion. Keep looking forward and never backwards, or else, you will trip and fall and become disqualified, but if you do, quickly get up and continue the race.
